WEST DES MOINES, IA (Aug. 25, 2025) — Midwest Heritage is excited to announce that Tammy Durnan has been appointed Assistant Vice President, Hy-Vee, Inc., President and Chief Retail Officer, Midwest Heritage, effective July 23, 2025.  Tammy will be the first woman to hold the position of president in the bank’s 95-year history.

“Tammy’s appointment marks a historic milestone for our organization,” said Tony Kaska, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “She has played an instrumental role in shaping the culture, direction and success of Midwest Heritage. Her leadership, deep understanding of community banking and commitment to exceptional service make her the ideal person to lead us into the future.”

Tammy has dedicated nearly 30 years to the financial industry, beginning her career as a teller at a small credit union.  In 1999, she began working for Midwest Heritage Bank as a bank manager. In 2009, she was named Vice President, Retail Sales Manager with a promotion to Senior Vice President the following year.  Tammy has served as Executive Vice President, Chief Retail Officer since 2018.

Tammy is a graduate of Miami High School in Miami, Arizona.  She is also a graduate of the Colorado Graduate School of Banking and has completed the Commercial Banking School at Iowa Bankers Association as well as the Dale Carnegie Leadership Excellence program.

In 2020, Tammy was named Officer of the Year for Hy-Vee subsidiaries.  She serves on the Iowa Division of Banking Advisory Council and the Grand View University Business Advisory Board.

This promotion is recognition of Tammy’s leadership and accomplishments.  Tammy will work with Tony Kaska, Chairman and CEO, Midwest Heritage on the long-term growth strategy for Midwest Heritage to be the most valued and trusted financial partner to our customers and communities.
