This holiday season, Midwest Heritage donated $16,000 to four non-profit organizations across Iowa and the Kansas City area. Each non-profit organization was presented with a $4,000 donation or $4,000 worth of various food items. We were happy to present our donations to the following organizations this holiday season:
Food At First is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization dedicated to providing meals to those in need. They run the local food pantry and provide free daily meals to families. They are a resourceful group that partners with local businesses and grocery stores to utilize food in a timely manner which helps to reduce waste.

Holding Tiny Hands is a non-profit organization run by volunteers that provide encouragement, strength, and support to families with babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. They provide Tiny Treasure gift bags, meals for the mom and dad, and an educational outreach program. Research shows that 75% of parents with a premature infant struggle with depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Parents who participate in support group services are less likely to suffer from these disorders. This organization supports the Blank Children’s Hospital NICU and the MercyOne Medical Center NICU.

Starfish Project Foundation is a non-profit program funded and ran by a mother-daughter team that strive to make the world a better place. This duo provides pot luck lunches, free haircuts, transportation, food, clothing, furniture, and daily necessities to many families, veterans, people with special needs, and animals. This organization has provided 400+ toiletry bags for the homeless and at-risk students in the Olathe school district. Another thing they do is pick up and redistribute hundreds of pounds of food each month from local restaurants to reduce waste.

The CMS Food Bank is a non-profit, volunteer-run program that provides meals for local families in need. The food bank provides various grocery items from non-perishables to dairy products, and even produce. COVID has touched everyone this year resulting in more people struggling to make ends meet. Due to the high demand, the food bank has run out of food on multiple occasions. This lead to the organization having to turn families away. Midwest Heritage’s goal was for nobody to be hungry this holiday season. Midwest Heritage teamed up with Hy-Vee to help minimize this problem and make sure that these families in need have a holiday dinner. The CMS Food Bank received $4,000 in groceries. Midwest Heritage employees helped bagged the groceries so that they were ready to be distributed to families in need this holiday season.
