WEST DES MOINES, IOWA – APRIL 1, 2024 – The team at Midwest Heritage dedicated a combined 65 hours of their time to support the Food Bank’s mission to stop hunger in Iowa, reaffirming their commitment to the communities they serve.

The volunteers from Midwest Heritage worked with the Food Bank staff to sort and pack over 10,000 pounds of food items for those in need. Their time made a tangible difference in helping the Food Bank address food insecurity in Iowa.

“We believe in the importance of giving back to the community, and our employees have shown this dedication through their volunteer work at the Food Bank of Iowa,” said Tony Kaska, CEO of Midwest Heritage. “By coming together to support such a vital organization, we aim to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals and families facing food insecurity.”

One of the ways Midwest Heritage supports employees to be more involved in their community is by offering paid time off for volunteering. Our employees volunteered for a combined 65 hours at the Food Bank of Iowa. Moreover, we encouraged our employees to utilize this paid time off for volunteering-related travel, resulting in a total of 91 hours dedicated to volunteer paid time off. This initiative allows employees to engage actively in causes they are passionate about and reinforces Midwest Heritage’s commitment to social responsibility.
