2024 Shred Day Event

Do you have a mountain of paper clutter somewhere in your home? Say goodbye to unnecessary documents that are simply taking up space and gathering dust. Join us for our free upcoming community Shred Day event on Saturday, May 11th, where you can securely shred your documents and ensure your privacy. This public event is held at both our Chariton and Grimes Midwest Heritage branches.

Date & Time:

  • Saturday, May 11th, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

  • Chariton Branch (1025 Braden Avenue, Chariton, IA 50049)
  • Grimes Branch (221 NE Gateway Dr, Grimes, IA 50111)

What should you shred?

Bring all your old documents, paperwork, and any sensitive materials you need securely disposed of. Shredding guarantees the destruction of your documents, safeguarding your sensitive information and giving you peace of mind. Shredding documents containing personal, financial, and account information can help to protect you from identity theft. Anything that contains sensitive personal information (especially your date of birth and/or social security number) can put you at risk if not safely stored. Learn more about what to shred.

Here are a few things you should consider shredding this summer:

  • Outdated financial documents (statements 3+ years old)
  • Old job applications (especially those containing your SSN!)
  • Pay stubs
  • Post it notes containing account information or passwords
  • Paid utility bills
  • Canceled checks (that are not tax-related)
  • Expired warranties
  • Junk mail (some contain barcodes that hold personal data)
